Last week I had the privilege to be chosen to present at Ignite Sydney. Sheepishly I have to admit it has been a personal goal of mine to do so for a year.
As you know my motto in life is to push yourself to the utter most limits. Public speaking in front of a sold out crowd of 500 was up there on my bucket list. A minor stepping stone for larger things to come.
Ignite Sydney is a non for profit event in which it’s aim is to gather people to share topics and speak to the wider community about issues or to inspire others. Speaker present for free and any money raised from the event goes to a great charity OZharvest which feeds thousands of disadvantages Australians each year. A worth while cause.
I call it a geek fest, which is fine because I am a proud geek myself. The format of ignite is simple give a 5 minute presentation on a topic of your choice. The house rules are:
• Slides must advance every 15 seconds
• No going over time
• No rambling
• No bullet points
Funnily enough at past Ignite’s if you do have bullet points the crowd will remind you of the house rules with a long boo. All in good fun though.
So off I went, props in hand, nerves running high… watch the video of my talk "What if I got another tattoo?". Let me know what you think. Next career move motivational speaking I think? Lol
Have you done anything super exciting this month you would like to share?
